In the '70's I watched Wide World of Sports and this extreme sport of Motocross! Since I lived 15 minutes from the Carlsbad Raceway, my interest never died. Bikes were too dangerous for the folks, so it wasn't until 1979 that I bought my first bike, a 1974 Suzuki RL 250, a trials bike, that I pretended to motocross on. After college in 1986 I raced my first and only Motocross at Carlsbad, I beat the one DNF. It wasn't until ten years later, in 1996, that I raced my second MX in Saint George. I quickly learned that you can be passionate about a hobby that you really aren't that good at. Desert racing helped me raise my sons, both are way better riders than I will ever be. Travelling the states attending the WORCs races gave us lots of travel time together. Now, in my selfish, lonely Golden years, I take pictures between the Motos, rather than play Pit Dad. I haven't found a version of Dirt Bikes that I don't love, and I've never had a bike that didn't help provide great memories (including my hard to start, fickle '99 YZ 400!)
